Written and produced by Mars Callahan, Poker Junkies is a film about an emerging poker star, contending with a longstanding champion for status as the world’s best cash-game poker player. Featuring Mr. Callahan in the lead role, Poker Junkies is currently in preproduction through Raleigh Studios, the largest independent film studio in the United States.

In conjunction with Mr. Callahan, the Poker Junkies production team includes John Hermansen and George Bours. Mr. Hermansen and Mr. Bours have significant experience in film production and recently collaborated as producers of Spring Break ’83, a 2011 comedy directed by Mars Callahan and starring John Goodman.

Prior to his work with Poker Junkies, Mr. Callahan’s writing and production credits include What Love Is, a romantic comedy featuring Cuba Gooding Jr., Sean Astin, and Matthew Lillard, as well as the 2002 film Poolhall Junkies with Christopher Walken, nominated for Best Sports Movie at the 2003 ESPY Awards.

As an actor, Mars Callahan has appeared in films such as Kalifornia and That Thing You Do!, while working on TV shows including ER and The Wonder Years. A devoted poker player, he brings a history of amateur poker experience to the production of Poker Junkies. Mr. Callahan stepped into the professional world when he participated in the most recent World Series of Poker, where he placed 94th overall out of nearly 7,000.
